Neckties can be dangerous…

For all you necktie haters out there, here are a few reasons to rebel about wearing a tie. They are all legit so take note. If your boss doesn’t buy it, you’ll have to suck it up and in invest in a great tie rack!

Nasty Germs – If you haven’t heard already, most medical doctors are not allowed to wear ties at work. The reason being, germs are attaching to the tie and spreading from patient to patient. So, if you are at a doctor’s office and he has a tie on, ask him to remove it and don’t touch it! Also, washing your hands before and after a visit can dramatically reduce your chances of taking anything nasty home with you. After three days of wear and no washing ties have already collected a huge amount of bacteria. Yes, it’s gross. Please take good care of your ties so you don’t get sick.

Glaucoma – Yes, I am serious. If you wear your tie too tight, you are raising your blood pressure. Once the blood pressure is too high, it causes glaucoma. Seems silly to say, but make sure you can put your fingers comfortably between your neck and the tie. Also, if you are visiting the eye doctor and wearing your tie too tight you can get a false test for glaucoma, one showing positive. Again, when the blood pressure is high it signals to the doctor the symptoms of glaucoma. So do yourself a favor and loosen that tie!

Miter Saw Hazard – Ok, I had to mention this for the mere fact that you could die if you got your tie caught in this saw. Now, the odds of you operating a miter saw while wearing a tie are not likely, but if you were thinking about it – think again.

Choking Hazard – There is always a chance you are going to get someone on your bad side and they’ll want to fight you. Before heading to the schoolyard, take that tie off! It would be extremely easy for someone to choke you to death with a tie on. You’d basically be providing them a tool to your demise.

Wow, that’s a violent photo! Ha-ha, it’s okay though, I’m not offended! I think these are all great points, and they certainly build a case against wearing ties. But also keep in mind that ties are traditional, and people will probably not stop wearing them completely! :) (Although men always used to wear hats in the old days, and they don’t anymore. Hmmm. Maybe ties ARE going to disappear!)
