Affordable Tie Care

In today’s economy, tie care can fall to the bottom of the budget. In fact, it may not even be a concern. However, keeping your ties in great condition will save you money in the long run because you will not have to purchase a new tie when the time comes to wear one. Ties can get expensive so it is smarter to take care of the ties you have now so they’ll last you a long time.

You’d be surprised how affordable tie care can be.

Depending on the necktie you have, the cleaning conditions will be different. Any higher end tie most likely requires dry cleaning – and we all know what a pain that is. Unless you are going to buy one of those personal dry cleaning kits, you need to take the precautionary steps to keeping your tie clean.

If you are out and about and your tie catches a drip of sauce, just dip a clean white napkin into club soda and dab away the stain. If you press hard, you’ll rub the stain deeper in the fabric and you’ll have to take it to get cleaned. Now, if the stain is greasy put some talcum powder, foot powder or baking soda on the stain to absorb the excess oil. By preventing the food from staining, you are eliminating the need to rush and get the tie dry-cleaned.

It is also possible to hand wash your tie at home instead of paying for dry cleaning.

For storing your ties, there are extremely affordable tie racks available. I cannot express the importance of a tie rack enough. With a tie rack you will preserve the life of your tie collection and keep them ready to wear.

This tie rack is a mere $8.49 at stacksandstacks.com. The very simple tie rack will easily hold a regular sized tie collection along with belts and scarves.

With proper wear and care, you won’t have to worry about spending any money on a new necktie because yours will be in great shape!

I agree completely. Even though I’ve had to stop bringing my clothes to the dry cleaner three times a week, when I do go I make sure to bring my ties. It’s important to protect your investment - and my investment is my wardrobe. Thanks for the post about tie racks!

I love the tip about the club soda when you are at a restaurant. I’ve always wondered what to do since I don’t carry baking soda with me very often when I’m out on the town :)
